The Trebnje handball players ended the first regional derby of the year against Novo mesto’s Krka in a draw (25:25). After a tense finish, the Novo mesto team successfully converted a penalty shot to secure a point.

In the previous round, the team coached by Radoslav Stojanovik had to settle for just one point during their away match in Škofja Loka. The latter proved to be quite a challenging opponent, but all thoughts quickly turned towards the next match, where Novo mesto’s Krka visited Trebnje tonight and took a point from the Trebnje lions.

Tin Herceg, goalkeeper of RK Trimo Trebnje:
“We knew it would be a tough derby, so we prepared well throughout the week. The desire was in the right place, but in the end, we unfortunately didn’t achieve our goal.”

Benjamin Cirar, pivot of MRK Krka Novo mesto:
“We had a good match. The derby was truly competitive, and in the end, we secured a point in the hot Trebnje gym. Now we need to focus on Europe.”

The Trebnje lions have another challenging match coming up next weekend. They are heading for an away game in Celje, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at 20:15.
